A Qassam rocket was fired Monday morning from north Gaza and landed in an open field south of Ashkelon, near what is considered a sensitive strategic facility.

No injuries were reported, but slight damage was done to the site.

The few employees who were present at the facility during the attack fled to secure areas ahead of time.

The IDF intensified its activity following the previous attacks on strategic facilities in the area, and a relative calm prevailed in
Ashkelon as of late. In Sderot, however, the Qassam rocket attacks have persisted, prompting residents to hold a demonstration in front of Defense Minister Amir Peretz’s home in the city over the weekend.

Meanwhile, IDF forces operated throughout the West Bank overnight Monday. During the arrest of wanted operatives in Nablus, gunmen hurled an explosive device and opened fire at the soldiers, but no injuries were reported.
