Palestinian killed in fire exchange with IDF

Palestinians report that Bahar Khatari, active in military wing of PFLP, killed after gunmen open fire and throw explosive charges at IDF force operating in refugee camp north of Nablus

A Palestinian gunman was killed Monday night during a fire exchange between gunmen and an IDF force in the Ayin Beit Ilma refugee camp north of Nablus.

 

Palestinian security sources reported that the man killed was Bahar Khatari,20, an activist in the military arm of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Abu Ali Mustafa Battalions.

 

The incident started after the gunmen, among them Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades – the military arm of Fatah – opened fire and threw grenades at the force. The IDF reported that the incident occurred after a group of gunmen shot at the force and threw explosive charges at them. The force returned fire and hit one of the gunmen.

 

After the event, Palestinian sources reported that the IDF called for back up and that the fire continues to be exchanged in the area.

 

IDF forces arrested 16 wanted men throughout the West Bank Monday night. In the area of Hebron, nine Hamas activists along with another wanted man were arrested. Six Hamas activists were arrested in the area of Bethlehem.
