A petition calling for Arcadi Gaydamak to ‘adopt Israel and solve its problems as only he can’ is set to be distributed all across the country by members of the “Just Kidding” organization in the coming days, this following the Russian-Israeli business mogul’s recent acts and statements.
“Just Kidding” co-founder Ofer Shitrit explained the initiative: “We are laughing at the ‘adopt me Gaydamak’ phenomenon. If everything is run in this manner, then he should adopt the entire country. He has wonderful solutions – if there is an educational problem he’ll buy degrees for everyone, and if there is an Iranian missile threat he’ll move us all to Uganda.”

Within the framework of the campaign “Just Kidding” volunteers are expected to distribute an e-mail showing a million shekel bill with Gaydamak’s portrait; the bill is currently being handed out to drivers at major intersections throughout the country.
“Just Kidding” is a public non-profit organization that aims to ‘increase the level of happiness in Israel through humor and laughter and encourage Israelis to view life optimistically.’
According to Shitrit, the main objective is to put a smile on the citizens’ faces. “People here are semi-depressed, and seeing us hand out bills at the intersections is making them happy,” he said.
The organization members believe that getting one million people to sign a petition would advance the possibility of a meeting between Gaydamak and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
“There must be cooperation between the country’s main sponsor and the prime minister,” Shitrit said.
“I expect the government to take the initiative, but on the other hand I’m glad Gaydamak exists – he is putting a mirror to our faces and showing us that problems can be resolved differently. The State is richer than Gaydamak.”
