IDF special forces arrested Khaled Jiossy, an operative with the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, on Friday night during his engagement ceremony in the Kalandiya refugee camp between Jerusalem and Ramallah. During the arrest raid, Jiossy was shot and wounded. He was transferred to hospital for medical treatment accompanied by security forces.
Palestinians reported that Jiossy live in a village near Qalqilya, but in recent year was hiding out in the Ramallah area. He arrived on Friday evening at his fiancee’s house in the Kalandiya refugee camp, and shortly after the ceremony started, the place was surrounded by an elite IDF unit, who demanded he turn himself in.

Witnesses said that Jiossy attempted to flee the scene, but soldiers opened fire and he was wounded in the attempt. He was evacuated to an Israeli hospital.
In recent weeks the IDF has been carrying out numerous arrest raids among terror brigades in the Ramallah area. During the day Friday, a number of clashes erupted between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians in the West Bank. North of Ramallah, Palestinians hurled stones at troops; no one was wounded.
Forces arrested five Palestinian stone-throwers, and they were transferred to security forces’ custody for further questioning.
In Salfit, southeast of Qalqilya, stones and Molotov cocktails were hurled at soldiers. Soldiers opened fire on the perpetrators and identified hitting one person in the lower body.
In a-Zababda, south of Jenin, a Palestinian hurled a Molotov cocktail towards a police vehicle. No one was hurt in the attack but the vehicle was damaged.
