Jenin: IDF kills gunman, 50-year-old woman

Palestinians say Israeli soldiers shoot dead Popular Resistance Committees commander, woman caught in crossfire; IDF forces arrest 15 wanted Palestinians across West Bank

Palestinian sources in the West Bank said Monday that IDF soldiers operating in Qabatiya, south of Jenin, killed a local Popular Resistance Committees commander and a 50-year-old Palestinian woman.

 

According to the Palestinians, those killed were identified as Abed el-Razek and a woman who was caught in the crossfire.

 

The army said the soldiers identified two armed Palestinians and proceeded to open fire at them. During the activity shots were fired toward IDF troops on several occasions; no injuries were reported, but damage was done to an army vehicle.

 

IDF forces arrested 15 wanted Palestinians across the West Bank. Six Fatah operatives were arrested near Nablus. During the operation, Palestinians opened fired on the forces, but none were hurt.

 

Three Hamas operatives were arrested in Qalqilya. Another Hamas operative was arrested, along with an Islamic Jihad operative, in Ramallah. Three Hamas operatives and an IJ operative were arrested in Hebron. All were transferred to security forces for investigation.

 

The agreed upon ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians went into effect Sunday morning, but despite this a number of Qassam rockets were fired toward the western Negev region. However, the truce was upheld for the remainder of the day.
