Beilin welcomes US report calling on Israel to return Golan
Meretz MK Yossi Beilin on Wednesday welcomed recommendations by the Iraq Study Group that the US encourages Israel to return the Golan Heights to Syria through peace negotiations.
"I hope this will end the chapter where the US used to be Israel's excuse not to respond to invitations by Syrian President (Bashar) Assad to open peace talks without preconditions," he said. He said this is the time to engage in talks with the Palestinians in order to reach a final peace deal. (Attila Somfalvi)
