Egypt: Hariri tribunal to be set up without Lebanese consent

Published: 12.09.06, 16:13 / Israel News

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit told London-based Arab-language newspaper Al-Hayat that an international court will be established to try the suspects in the assassination of Rafik Hariri “with international consent,” even if political forces in Lebanon do not reach an agreement on the matter.

The dispute over the trial is one of the main reasons for the current political crisis in Lebanon, as pro-Syrian forces are doing everything in their power to prevent its establishment. (Roee Nahmias)
