VIDEO - Four Palestinians were killed and many others were injured on Monday when gunmen opened fire on a civilian car traveling in the Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City. Security officials said the incident is part of the ongoing power struggle between Hamas and Fatah, especially as three of the victims are the children of a senior Palestinian Authority intelligence officer. The children were said to be aged between six and nine. The officer was identified as Baha Ba'alousha, who escaped an attempt on his life in September. Hamas gunmen were the main suspects. On Sunday, gunmen opened fire on the motorcade of Palestinian Minister of the Interior, Said Sayyam. Officials fear the incidents could be the beginning of a new wave of street confrontations between Hamas and Fatah. Talks between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh on the formation of a national unity government failed, prompting Abbas to threaten to dissolve parliament and call early elections. Haniyeh warned that such move would endanger more instability and violence.
