High Court rejects petition against targeted killing

The High Court, headed by retired President Aharon Barak, rejected the petition against the targeted killing policy demanding that the IDF be forbidden from using it. The ruling established that delineations and limitations must be put on the policy, such that each instance will be thoroughly examined.

In its justification of the ruling, the court wrote that "it must not be predetermined that every targeted killing is forbidden by international law, just as it must not be predetermined that every targeted killing is permissible." The petition was submitted by the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel. (Aviram Zino)
