A moment's rest

Regev, Goldwasser 34 hours before

Never before seen pictures of abducted soldiers 34 hours before fateful border patrol revealed on Channel 1. Karnit Goldwasser: 'Ehud took a lot of the pictures himself'

While all of Israel awaits any shred of information regarding the fates of kidnapped soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev with bated breath, Channel 1 news will reveal on Thursday never before seen pictures of the two men taken a mere 34 hours before their doomed border patrol on July 12th.

The images capture the men are at a base party as well as a Hizbullah mortar attack on the Zar'it outpost, from where the soldiers embarked on their final mission.

The stirring photographs are the last known images of Regev and Goldwasser, as well as of Eyal Benin and Shani Turgeman who were killed in the Hizbullah kidnapping.

The images tell the tale of the routine lives of reserve soldiers along the Lebanese border, catching a moment's rest on a bench, having a party in a balloon decorated mess hall and the smoke of a Hizbullah mortar attack.

Ehud (Udi) Goldwasser's wife Karnit told Ynet Thursday evening that she had seen the pictures several months ago when one of Ehud's fellow soldiers shared them with the families. "Udi photographed a lot of the pictures himself, that’s why he's not in most of them," said Karnit, "he was a good photographer, I can tell by their style which ones he took."
