Reggae musician U Roy

Reggae stars coming to Israel

U Roy, Junior Marvin to come in January, expected to perform in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem

The reggae saga continues. Jamaican musicians U Roy and Junior Marvin are expected to arrive in Israel for two concerts in January.

The two reggae legends are set to perform on the 24th and 26th of the month at the “Zappa” club in Tel Aviv, and on the 25th at the “Lab” club in Jerusalem. Their joint performances will include 12 musicians on stage.

The two joined the wave of international reggae artists washing over Israel over the past 18 months, including stars such as Zigi Marley, Matisyahu, King King, and The Gladiators.

Marvin is known mostly for his hit “Police and Theives”, the title track of his 77’ album. The song was included in the “Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” soundtrack, and was later covered by The Clash.

U Roy is considered one of the founders of “black” music DJ’s. He started his way in 61’ and over the years recorded, produced, and created music for dozens of Jamaica’s leading production companies.
