Qassam lands south of Sderot

Third rocket fired Friday by Palestinian gunmen lands in open area during Shabbat prayers; no injuries or damage reported. Islamic Jihad's military wing claims responsibility

Rocket firing at western Negev continues Friday evening. While many of Sderot's residents attended Shabbat prayers in the southern town synagogues. Palestinian gunmen fired a Qassam rocket from the northern Gaza Strip toward Israel.

 

The rocket landed in an open area south of Sderot. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The al-Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad's military wing, claimed responsibility for firing the rocket.

 

On Friday morning, Palestinians fired two Qassam rockets at western Negev communities. One rocket landed inside Sderot and caused damage to several houses. a number of people suffered from shock, and one woman fainted and was in need of medical treatment.

 

The second rocket landed in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council, near a kibbutz. There were no injuries.

 

Shortly after the rocket landed, the al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility for firing it.

 

The rocket fire from the Gaza Strip was resumed in the past two days after a relative calm at the beginning of the week. On Wednesday evening, a rocket fired from the Strip landed north of the Erez crossing. There were no injuries or damage in the incident.

 

On Tuesday morning, a mortar shell fired from the Strip landed near the Karni goods crossing. A man was lightly injured and was evacuated to the Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva. A truck suffered damage. In spite of the rocket fire, the crossing remained open.
