Hamas website claims 'Zionist hack'

Site says it was target of 'Zionist electronic attacks,' adds hacking attempts 'may be coordinated with Mossad'

Hamas' English-language website claimed on Saturday that it was "the target of concentrated electronic attacks since Wednesday on the part of Zionist and pro-Zionist parties that interrupted its regular service."

The online communiqué said that "the PIC (Palestine Information Center - the name of Hamas's official website in English - Y.L.) administration condemned the 'criminal, illegal sabotage' in a press release, adding that the act reflected a 'terrorist mentality that is exercised by those who do not believe in freedom of expression and freedom of the press.'"

Unsurprisingly, the message linked the alleged attack to Israel 's Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations, otherwise known as the Mossad.

"The site's management did not rule out coordination between the Israeli Mossad, which has been seeking for years to close down the site, and a number of its local agents, who have called for boycotting the site over the past few weeks," the Hamas website claimed.

It added that "the PIC, ever since its inception in 1997, has exerted strenuous efforts to convey the truth with all objectivity and professionalism and has tried to expose the Israeli occupation's 'oppressive' practices against the Palestinian people."

"Our technicians are working round-the-clock to reactivate the site and to protect it in face of such sabotage," the website said.
