Another optimistic trip in photos of first communities of Jordan Rift Valley in state's early days
Naftali (Herbert) Oppenheim, a gifted photographer from kibbutz Ein Gev who passed away at a young age, said once, "I only photograph the beautiful and cheerful subjects, because I find them to be the essence of my work. My job is to help and encourage."
"Ugly things should not be photographed, they should be confronted and overcome," he added.
The thousands of landscapes and faces documented by Oppenehim in the years 1937-1953 were recently scanned at the Bitmuna lab and are now on display as part of an exhibition in the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv.
