A Palestinian was killed early Wednesday morning by IDF fire near the Gaza border fence.

According to the Palestinians, another person was injured and a third one was detained by the military in the same incident.

The IDF reported that soldiers identified suspects moving near the security fence, and fired towards them. Two of the suspects were apprehended and transferred for questioning.

Army officials explained that the Palestinian's movement along the fence sparked suspicion among the troops.

The soldiers called on the suspects to halt and opened fire towards them after concern was raised the three were planning to carry out an attack.

One of the men who was taken for interrogation in Israel sustained light injuries and received treatment.

Palestinian sources claim that a medical team was allowed access to the place only following coordination between the two sided. Sources
also said that that the army has boosted its presence in the vicinity of the fence, particularly in the northern Gaza area.

Wednesday's casualty is the fourth Palestinian to be killed by the army near the fence since the declaration of the ceasefire some three months ago. In similar incidents the Palestinians were found to be in possession of arms and explosive devices.

Military sources noted Wednesday that despite the ceasefire, the units are constantly on high alert, in light of many plans and attempts to carry out attacks or test the readiness of the forces in the area.
