Muslim countries want Yad Sarah

Senegal and Mauritania show interest in Israeli volunteers organization, plan to franchise model

Senegal and Mauritania are interested in franchising Yad Sarah in their countries.

Yad Sarah is an Israel-wide network of volunteers aiding disabled, elderly, housebound people. The organization provides medical equipment to anyone in need.

With the help of Israel’s Foreign Ministry, the two Muslim countries will adopt Yad Sarah’s model for the benefit of their citizens.

The organization’s Head of International Operations, Meir Hendelsman, is expected to visit the two African countries within the next two months. Hendelsman will meet with heads of the countries’ health systems in order to discuss the “export” of Yad Sarah’s model.

Senegal’s Israeli Ambassador Gideon Bachar said the country was extremely interested in collaborating with the organization. The embassy has already secured a meeting between Hendelsman and Senegal’s health minister, as well as other senior health officials.

South American countries have also been showing interest in the Yad Sarah model. El Salvador was the first one to actually adopt the model, and is expected to open the first Latin branch of the Israeli organization within the next few months in the country’s capital.
