“The Iranians see themselves as being at the forefront of the battle against the ‘heretics,’” Uri Lubrani, a former ambassador to Tehran, told the Jewish Agency’s Board of Governors.

“They believe in their connection to Allah and that salvation will come only when the war of Gog and Magog begins – and now is the time for it.”

Lubrani said the US “does not understand the threat and has not done enough,” adding that the Americans and Europeans “must be shaken awake.”

He said 75 percent of the Iranian nation does not support its current leadership due to what he referred to as the “severe economic and human rights situation” in the Islamic Republic.

“Israel cannot do much against the Iranian threat, and there is no point in negotiating with Iran,” Lubrani added.
