Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin met Wednesday with Labor MK Nadia Hilou to discuss security procedures at Ben Gurion airport.

The two met after Hilou raised the issue of humiliating searches that many Arab passengers were subject to daily at the airport. She demanded that a solution be found that would balance the need for security and the dignity of the passengers.

"The issue has to be resolved," Hilou said. "We cannot have all Arab travelers suspect. I will stay on it until an appropriate solution is found."

Diskin told her that the security establishment was scheduled to implement a new, high-cost technology that would screen all passengers in the same way.

Last year, the Israel Airports Authority and the Citizens Accord Forum formed a joint task force to try to ease the distress of Arab passengers and to improve the services and methods used with Israeli Arabs at airports and border crossings.
