Regulation bans Jews from renting flats in Nice

Local newspaper reveals clause requiring apartment renters 'to have a French citizenship and not to be Jewish' appears in regulations of about 1,000 apartment buildings in Mediterranean city

PARIS – A municipal regulation in the southern French city of Nice requires apartment renters "to have a French citizenship and not to be Jewish."
According to the Nice Matin newspaper, the regulations were formulated in the days France collaborated with the Nazis during World War II.
The newspaper found out that such a clause appears in the regulations of about 1,000 apartment buildings in the Mediterranean city, and therefore remains valid to this day.
CRIF, the representative council of Jewish institutions in France, responded with shock to the report and issued a call "to erase these signs of a disgraceful past."
