MK Orlev presents updated list of mortal enemies of Israel

MK Zevulun Orlev hints Sheikh Ra'ed Salah may be on list of present-day Amalekites, whom Jews are obliged to wipe out

MK Zevulun Orlev from the National Religious Party has suggested that eliminating the head of the northern faction of the Islamic Movement in Israel, Ra'ed Salah, should be considered.

The leaflet "Shabbat BeShabbato" (Each and Every Shabbat), distributed in Israeli synagogues every Sabbat, printed an article by MK Orlev titled "Who will Blot out the Amalek of our Generation?"

In the article, he tries to identify the Amalekites of our generation. "There is no need to beat around the bush," he wrote. "It is easy to identify the successors of Amalek in this generation.

"No one can dispute that the list is topped by Adolf Hitler, followed by contemporary enemies of Israel such as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hizbullah Secretary-General Sheikhh Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas' political chief Khaled Mashaal," he added.

Regarding the head of the northern faction of the Islamic Movement in Israel, Sheikh Ra'ed Salah he specifically noted: "It appears that he is trying hard to make the list."

The list of "contemporary Amalekites" is significant among religious Jews. The term Amalek has a much deeper meaning than any standard enemy. Jews are commanded to wage an all out war against them: "We do not negotiate with Amalek. There are no agreements and no political solutions. The mitzvah, the commandment, of remembrance also requires us to wipe out the memory of Amalek in the most literal sense of the word," Orlev declared.

"This commandment is by and large public. Today, in our sovereign state, it is the government and the Knesset that are obliged to fulfill it. It is obvious that this "elimination" cannot be performed by every Jewish citizen independently," Explains Orlev, who is very aware of the power of the written word and its ramifications.

"The deed can only be carried out by applying the power and the resources of the state. But each and every Jewish person must do his utmost to influence the government to fulfill this duty," Orlev wrote.

"Your contribution can be made by voting to the Knesset, attending demonstrations; you can change public opinion in the media, you can talk to people, try to persuade them in dialogue.

"The story of the Book of Esther also shows us how we can influence the regime from within, as Queen Esther did, and from without, like Mordecai did when he revealed the plot of Bigthan and Teresh, by defying Haman, by demonstrating by the palace and by demanding that Esther make use of the agreement she had made with Ahasuerus the king."
