Israeli band wins Pink Floyd competition

Israeli rock band wins international music contest judged by David Gilmour and David Bowie

The Rockfour rock band won first prize Saturday evening at an international music competition judged by David Gilmour and David Bowie.

The competition called for various groups to record a cover version of the song Arnold Layne, Pink Floyd's first single composed by the late Syd Barrett, released in 1967.

Members of the group Baruch Ben Yitzhak, Isser Tennenbaum and Mark Lazar won a day of recording at the Abbey Road Studios in London. The studio was used to record a host of classic rock and roll albums, but it is primarily known due to the Beatles' album that bears the studio name.

Once the award was announced, David Gilmor's blog congratulated the winners and all those who took part in the project, saying he hoped everyone enjoyed it they did.

Members of the group are currently on a tour in the US which includes Philadelphia, New York and Texas. Overseas performances are expected to end on March 16th, and at the beginning of April the group is expected to release its new album "Memories of the Never Happened." The group recorded the album in the US last year and it will also comprise only English lyrics.
