The Israeli market sustains an astronomical yearly loss of NIS 6.2 billion ($1.5 billion) because of its failure to employ Arab women, according to research by the Musawa Center for Arab Rights in Israel.
The data collected for the research show that only 18 percent of Arab women are part of the workforce in Israel, as opposed to 56 percent of Jewish women, and 59 percent of Arab men.
The average annual income for an Arab citizen in Israel is about $7,700, while the average annual income for a Jewish citizen in the country is about $19,000.
“Integrating Arab women into the workforce would raise income levels by 30 percent,” said Amin Fares, Musawa Centre Economist.
