VIDEO - Eighteen-year-old beauty contestant Liran Kohner was crowned Miss Israel for 2007 in a festive event broadcast on nationwide TV Tuesday evening. The pageant organized by the woman's weekly magazine "Laisha" for the 57th time, was held at the Congress Center in Haifa. Liran, who is about to be recruited into the military will have to find the time to fulfill her various beauty queen obligations including participation in the Miss Universe Contest. She comes from a family of physicians, and hopes that she too will one day become a doctor or a vet. Meanwhile after successfully graduating high school she is awaiting her enlistment into the army. The star studded evening was hosted by long-term model Galit Guttman, who could certainly have served as a role model for the much younger contestants. In between interviews and change of dress, the event included the appearance of artists such as Teapacks, the group selected to appear at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest and who performed their controversial song "Push the Button." The outgoing beauty queen Yael Nizri handed over her crown saying that the years she held the title was full of meaning for her, "it's not just a beauty contest, it is also a platform for representing Israel," she concluded.
