Iranian official says Iran achieved its objectives in British crew affair

An adviser to Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei said Thursday that Iran had achieved the objectives it set for itself at the onset of the standoff with Britain over the arrest of 15 British servicemen in the Persian Gulf.

The advisor said Britain had apologized to Iran in writing for trespassing into its territorial waters, a claim Prime Minister Tony Blair denied. Britain insists that the sailors were in Iraqi waters when they were snatched by Iran. (AFP)
