Jihad Ziara, a 46-year-old from Jaffa was kidnapped Saturday evening by gunmen in the Gaza Strip. Ziara, who is originally from Gaza and has lived in Israel for several years, entered the strip on Friday for a family visit.

A relative of Ziara said that on his way back from visiting his wife and children, four gunmen in a Skoda snatched him from Salah a-Din Street, the main road in Gaza.

The reasons behind the kidnapping and the identities of the gunmen are still unknown.

Ziara is also married to an Israeli wife.

In October 2006, a resident of Tira who was visiting relatives with his wife and six children was also kidnapped.

During that incident, gunmen ambushed the family as they passed near the village of Beit Lahiya and kidnapped the man. His wife was badly injured and transferred to the Gaza hospital.

Ali Waked contributed to the report.
