Large scale police forces moved into downtown Haifa in the early afternoon in pursuit of a wanted Palestinian man.

Police sources said that while officers were searching door-to-door no roadblocks were set up and the area was not sealed off.

Security procedures in government offices and the nearby district courthouse were stepped up and employees were instructed to remain indoors and refrain from leaving their immediate offices.

Schools were also put on alert but no emergency measures were taken.

A few short hours after the search commenced police forces stood down the alert and reported that they had arrested the wanted man and taken him for questioning.
