Labor’s central committee is scheduled to convene in 10 days to discuss Knesset Member Ophir Pines-Paz’s demand that the party resign from cabinet following the Winograd Commission’s severe conclusions .
Last Tuesday Labor Minister Eitan Cabel announced his resignation from the government and called on his fellow party members to do the same, but so far they have yet to heed his call.
Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who is running for the Labor party chairmanship, has yet to voice his opinion on the matter.
Labor Party leader Amir Peretz, whose conduct was harshly criticized by the commission appointed to investigate last summer's war, made it clear that if reelected he would step down as defense minister and demand the finance portfolio.
