Qassam explodes near strategic facility in Ashkelon

A Qassam rocket fired by Palestinians from north Gaza Friday morning exploded near a strategic facility in Ashkelon’s industrial zone.
Workers at the facility said security personnel activated a siren ahead of time after receiving word of the incoming rocket by beeper, adding that lately the rocket attacks had become more accurate and powerful.
Sappers dispatched to the scene claimed that the rockets were carrying higher-quality explosives.
Two more Qassams fired during the early hours of Friday morning landed near two kibbutzim located in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council area. No injuries or damage were reported.
Earlier a young man caused panic in Sderot when he hovered above the southern city in a paraglider; some residents who mistook the man for a terrorist trying to infiltrate the city by air remained in their homes and called the police.
Police officials later said the paraglider was a resident of Sderot.
