Islamic Jihad says Qassam rockets to be improved

Group's spokesman tells Ynet renewal of assassinations will not affect resistance. 'We'll keep launching rockets, keep sending suicide bomber into Israel,' he says

"No action by the Israeli government will make us stop launching rockets. Have any actions stopped us before?" the Islamic Jihad's military wing spokesman told Ynet on Sunday.

Abu Ahmed spoke in response to reports that the security cabinet will decide Sunday whether or not to resume its targeted assassination.

The organization intended to keep launching rockets and preparing suicide bombings no matter what was decided, he said.

"We will not stop firing rockets or improving their range, nor will we stop planning suicide bombing against Israel," said Ahmed. "The assassinations are nothing new, and as was proven in the past, they won't stop us."

"Warriors of the resistance take precautions against any possible scenario, but that doesn't affect their efficacy," said Ahmed when asked if he and his people were worried about Israel's plans to resume assassinations.

"Even if the Israeli military moves into our territory, we still have plenty of options, including firing rockets from remoter locations. Our engineers have developed rockets ranging up to 17 miles," he added, "so we don't have to stay in northern Gaza. Any Israeli action aimed at putting a stop to Qassam rockets is futile."

"Today's shooting was a clear message from the Palestinian resistance to the Israeli government," he added. "No cabinet meeting, no government decision can stop us. We are determined in our fight, and let me remind you, that even when Israeli troops were deep inside the Gaza Strip, the shootings didn't stop."

"Launching Qassam rockets has proven itself," said Ahmed when confronted with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas statement, that the firing rocket further damaged the Palestinian cause.

"The rockets have caused the Israelis to leave Sderot" he said.

"The Israeli themselves admit the rockets are becoming more accurate, deadlier" he said."If they are so useless, why convene a special cabinet meeting?"
