Earlier Thursday, three rockets were fired at Sderot from the northern Gaza Strip. Two of the rockets landed in open fields near Sderot, and one fell near kibbutz Nir Am. No injuries or damage were reported.

Four rockets were fired at Israel Wednesday evening. Two of the Qassams landed near Sderot and a woman resident suffered from shock. The other two landed south of Ashkelon.

The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, claimed responsibility for the firing of one of the rockets.

The Brigades fired the rocket in spite of a meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leaders in a bid to renew the truce with Israel.
