Zeev Rosenstein was convicted Thursday by the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court of conspiracy to commit a crime. Rosenstein's conviction was part of a plea bargain made with the State Prosecutor's Office.
The Court sentenced him to three years in prison, to be served in congruent with the 12-years sentence he received from a US court, for dealing in ecstasy pills.
According to the plea bargain, Rosenstein confessed that in 2001 he conspired with two other men to assassinate Nisim and Yaakov Alperon, fearing they might try to have him killed.
Rosenstein was returned to Israel from the US a convicted felon. He was flown in under heavy guard in March and was placed in the Ayalon prison, where he is expected to serve the rest of his 12-year sentence.
