Ali Waked|Updated:
Soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces operating in Tapuah, near Hebron, killed an armed Palestinian and wounded another, Friday night. Palestinian sources reported that the two were hunters.
The IDF confirmed the shooting, explaining that during a routine operation, IDF paratroopers identified Palestinian gunmen and opened fire at them, hitting both.
IDF sources said that two rifles were found in the area and the two Palestinians were training to carry out a terror attack.
One of the gunmen was critically injured by the IDF fire and died after reaching the hospital. The other, the Palestinian sources said, was detained by the troops.
No soldiers were injured in the incident.
Also in the West Bank, IDF forces detained two wanted Palestinian operatives late Friday night. One was arrested in the Balata refugee camp near Nablus, and the other - a Hamas operative - was arrested near Ramallah.
