Israeli soldiers and Popular Resistance Committees gunmen exchanged fire Monday at the Erez crossing between Israel and Gaza, killing at least one Palestinian and wounding 10, the Israeli rescue service and Palestinian hospital officials said. The Israeli military
said Palestinians threw a grenade and fired at civilians at the crossing, and soldiers shot at the gunmen. The military said there were no Israeli casualties.
Hamas denounced the attack by PRC gunmen. "This is rejected. There are civilians at the crossing and this can cause problems," said Iyad Buzum, a Hamas official in northern Gaza. The PRC has some links to Hamas. (AP)
