Matan Zarihan, 17, is a neighbor of the kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit. His family has been living next to the Shalit family in Mitzpe Hila in the Western Galilee for years. Young Matan approached the rapper Shai Hadad (Shai 360) and asked him to write a song to mark the first anniversary of Gilad's kidnapping. Hadad agreed and the song "How Long" is performed by several rappers.

The song will be played at the demonstration that will be held tonight in Jerusalem marking a year since the kidnapping. You can listen to the song here.

"How Long?"

"It was a great initiative. I was really touched when Matan approached me," said Hadad. "I realized that this topic has been neglected, we want to raise awareness."

All the residents of Hila help Gilad's parents in their effort to keep the subject on the government's agenda. "I don't know where it will lead but I know that I have a younger brother who was raised in Canada like I was and it can happen to anyone – our brothers, our sons, our neighbors. To any of us," said Hadad

"Every time I hear this song I get the shivers and I've heard it a million times by now. I hope this song will reach enough people and remind them of Gilad and the other two other soldiers who were kidnapped. Everyone in the country is disappointed that all we got were inquiry commissions to point fingers. You know what? I don't think the commissions really interest the parents of the three kidnapped soldiers."
