Parents to march in memory of fallen sons

Bereaved parents to commemorate soldiers killed in Second Lebanon War through March of Life on July 2

On July 2, the official memorial day of the Second Lebanon War, the bereaved families forum plans to hold a "March of Life" to commemorate their fallen sons.

The march will kick off in Kfar Giladi, where 12 soldiers were killed by a Katyusha during the war, and end with a state ceremony in Jerusalem's Mount Herzl.

The event's initiators explained that the Name "March of Life" was chosen to symbolize "the faith in the strength that can be drawn from life, and in memory of those who in their death bequeathed us life."

The march will go through sites where civilians and reserve soldiers were killed, and will also visit the place where the two Israeli soldiers were abducted, near the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Ariella Goldman, whose son Noam was killed in Lebanon, told Ynet, "We must not forget this war, if only because it was a screw up. When you walk through the desert, you leave your dead behind and move on, but we are already in the Land of Israel, and the future is here."

Moshe Muskal, whose son Refanel was also killed in the war, added," This is the March of Life, which aims at showing everybody we are alive, and we shall go on living."

The bereaved families forum called on the residents of Israel to join the march.
