Ahmadinejad honors Nasrallah's mother

Hizbullah head's mother receive certificate of appreciation from Iranian president during ceremony honoring prominent Muslim women, relatives of 'martyrs'

Hizbullah head Hassan Nasrallah's mother received a certificate of appreciation from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian Keyhan news agency reported on Saturday.

Nasrallah's parents participated in the Tehran ceremony which honored "prominent women of the Islamic movement", and relatives of 34 "martyrs" from countries such as Bosnia, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority.

According to Iranian custom, Ahmadinejad did not shake the hand of Nasrallah's mother, but a picture of the Iranian president embracing Nasrallah's father could be found on the front page of the popular newspaper, with Nasrallah's mother standing beside them holding her certificate.

Last week marked family and women's week in the Islamic Republic, with the birthday of Fatimah Zahra, the Prophet Muhammad's daughter and role model for Muslim women, being celebrated on Thursday.

"Today, Islam's women are the heart of the resistance and the holy war against the arrogant (western countries)," Ahmadinejad said in his speech.

During the ceremony the Iranian president also mentions "Hizbullah's victory in Lebanon" and the resistance movements in the PA, Iraq and Afghanistan and defined them as "crises of the final victory".

He promised his audience that Muslim victory over the West was near, saying, "The world must know that with the help of God all the oppressed will defeat the heretic and hypocritical movements."

Nasrallah's father also said a few words at the ceremony, and stressed that "the Islamic nation will defeat the satanic way by choosing Hizbullah's path."
