Committee decides Gaza residents not entitled to damages for IDF operations

Ministerial Committee for Legislation approved a bill defining the Gaza Strip a foreign entity, removing the state's responsibility for paying compensation to residents of the Strip hurt during IDF operations.
The proposal was initiated by MKs Effie Eitam (National Religious Party) and Matan Vilna'i (Labor), and negates a prior decision of former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak, that Palestinians hurt by IDF operations would be entitled to damages. (Aviram Zino)
