Gilat Satellite Networks struck a deal with SatCom Networks Africa to provide the Tanzanian communications operator a SkyEdge broadband satellite network, the Israeli satellite systems maker announced Sunday.
SatCom will use the network to provide broadband connectivity, videoconferencing, IP and VoIP services to major financial and government institutions across hundreds of sites in East Africa where it has been deploying Gilat networks since 2002.
Janna Koretskaya, Gilat's vice president in Africa, said SatCom's decision to acquire the SkyEdge network underlines its satisfaction with Gilat's products and services.
"As we continue our successful relationship with SatCoNet, we look forward to helping SatCoNet maintain its strong reputation for high quality communication services in Tanzania," said Koretskaya.
Last month, Gilat announced it was chosen by one of Russia's largest telecom operators, SibirTelecom, to provide a SkyEdge broadband satellite network.
