4.1 magnitude quake jolts San Francisco Bay area

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake jolted San Francisco Bay area residents awake early Friday. There were reports of items falling off shelves and broken glass, but no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries.

The earthquake struck at 4:42 am about 2 miles east of Oakland, according to the US Geological Survey, and it could be felt on both sides of California's San Francisco Bay. (AP)
