IDF kills 2 Hamas gunmen in Gaza
Golani troops enter Strip after spotting two Palestinians near border fence. Exchange of fire erupts; no injuries reported among soldiers. IDF officer lightly injured in Nablus after being shot by Palestinian gunman
The IDF reported that the force entered the Strip after spotting the gunmen. An exchange of fire erupted shortly afterwards and the two gunmen were killed.
According Palestinian sources in the Strip, the two were engaged in an observation near the Karni crossing when they encountered an IDF force which opened fire at them.
Meanwhile, an IDF soldier was lightly wounded in a separate incident in Nablus early Wednesday, as two explosive devices and gunshots were aimed at IDF forces operating in the city.
Another explosive device and two Molotov cocktails were hurled at troops near the village of Beit Omar, south of Bethlehem.
On Tuesday night, the IDF arrested 13 wanted Palestinians in the West Bank. Six were arrested in the Nablus area, and one was arrested in Jenin. Two gunmen were arrested in the Ramallah area and four were apprehended in Bethlehem.
A six-year-old girl and her eight-year-old brother were killed Tuesday in an explosion in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya.
Palestinian eyewitnesses reported that the blast took place as a group of children were playing with a homemade rocket or mortar shell they found in the area. Medical sources in the Strip reported that another five children were injured in the incident.
