Tensions between two Palestinian groups in the West Bank rose Friday night, after operatives from the Islamic Jihad broke into a police station in Jenin and stole a jeep belonging to the Fatah-affiliated Palestinian Authority security forces.

The operatives claimed that they were getting revenge on policemen who confiscated a vehicle belonging to a senior Islamic Jihad member in the area, on suspicion that it was stolen.

Recently, the PA has been working jointly with Israel to locate stolen cars in the West Bank.  As part of an operation to this end, policemen in Jenin stopped the Islamic Jihad member and asked him for his vehicle registration.

As stated, the forces confiscated the vehicle on suspicion that it was stolen and Islamic Jihad members stole a police jeep in response.  They emphasized that it will only be returned in exchange for the car.
