IAEA chief cautions Tehran against wasting 'great chance'

Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in an interview released Saturday that he is hopeful of progress in the standoff over Iran's nuclear program following a cooperation agreement.

''There are hopeful, positive signals,'' ElBaradei said, adding that for the first time Iran has agreed to a work timetable with the IAEA and that by December at the latest "we should be able to see whether the Iranians are keeping the promises they gave,'' he said, "if they did not do that, a great chance - perhaps the last one - would be lost for Tehran.''
