An eight-year-old boy from Jenin was critically injured by IDF fire Thursday, in the course of an operation against a wanted Palestinian suspect in town.
The child, Mustafa Abu Srur, was wounded when soldiers fired gunshots and mortar shells at a house where a member of the Islamic Jihad's al-Quds brigades was hiding.
He sustained mortal injuries to his head and was evacuated by a military helicopter to the Rambam hospital in Haifa, where he will undergo a CT scan.
The IDF confirmed that a child was hurt during an arrest raid in Jenin.
The wanted suspect later turned himself in and soldiers uncovered five explosive devices in the house and in vehicles surrounding it.
Palestinian sources in Jenin said that the operation took place in the town's eastern neighborhood, and that several other people were wounded, in addition to the child.
Meanwhile, four Hamas gunmen were killed and 12 were wounded by an IDF tank shell in central Gaza, Palestinian sources reported. According to the report, the tank fired a shell at a Hamas cell that opened fire at IDF tanks operating in the area.
