Rishon Lezion – wealthiest city in Israel

Central Bureau of Statistics published household expenditures report for 2006. Report included Israel's 14 largest cities

Rishon Lezion was the wealthiest city in Israel in 2006, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) said Thursday, in its household expenditures report. 

 

Ranked first among the 14 cities named in the report, Rishon Lezion's average household expenditures were $3,166 per family, per month.

 

Bat Yam, the city ranked in the 14th and last place in 2006, had average monthly household expenses of $1,998 per family – 37% less than in Rishon Lezion.

 

According to CBS data, the highest individual monthly expenditure in 2006 – $1,389 – was noted in Tel Aviv, while the lowest – $492 – was in Bnei Brak.

 

Bnei Brak also had the highest number of people living in one apartment – 4.3, while in Tel Aviv the number was 2.2.

 

Rishon Lezion's households also ranked first when it came to owning cell phones (90.6%), computers (74.1%) and cars (75%).

 

Bnei Brak ranked last with just 31.9% of households owning a TV, 42% owning computers and 24.2% owning cars.
