'Olmert-Abu Bluff deal will blow up in our faces'

In new campaign, which will include ads on more than 1,000 buses, Yesha Council to try and convince public to oppose declaration of principles being formed by prime minister, Palestinian president

The Yesha Council plans to launch a campaign across the country on Monday against the declaration of principles being formed by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas ahead of the US-sponsored Mideast peace conference scheduled to take place in November.

In the first stage, ads with the campaign's slogan, 'The Olmert-Abu Bluff deal will blow up in our faces,' will be placed on more than 1,000 buses. In a later stage, ads will be aired on different media outlets and on the internet.

Olmert and Abbas are expected to meet on Tuesday in order to start formulating a joint statement for the Maryland peace conference. This will be the two leaders' sixth meeting in the past few months and it will be attended for the first time by their delegations.

According to a senior diplomatic source, "There is a complete understanding on what is expected to happen in November. It is completely clear that we are headed to a statement and not to any agreement."

Sources in the Yesha Council told Ynet that the campaign was aimed at thwarting the conference and the plan to reach a declaration of principles between Olmert and Abbas.

According to the sources, "Abu Mazen (Abbas) is Abu Bluff. He is incapable of giving us anything in return, and anything given to him will fall into Hamas' hands, just like what happened in the Gaza Strip.

"Such an agreement will only lead to the establishment of a terror state which will constitute a daily security threat on the citizens of the State of Israel and will bring the Qassam rockets to the Azrieli towers (in Tel Aviv) and to the Ben-Gurion Airport runways," the sources added.

According to the Yesha Council, the ads posted on the buses will vary according to the bus' destination. For example, a bus traveling to Ra'anan will bear the slogan, 'The Olmert-Abu Bluff deal will blow up in Ra'anana.'
