3 teens arrested for spray-painting swastikas
Swastikas found on electricity cabinet at school in Holon. One of boys previously arrested last week for spray-painting swastikas at construction site, stairwell of apartment building
Three boys aged 12-14 were arrested for spray-painting swastikas on an electricity cabinet at a school in Holon on Monday.
Police and forensics teams were called to the scene, where they documented the evidence. To their surprise, a name was signed near the spray-painted swastikas, which made finding the perpetrators that much easier.
During their investigation, police discovered that one of the boys, a 12-and-a-half-year-old, was previously arrested last week for spray-painting swastikas at a construction site, and in the stairwell of an apartment building in the city.
Police also found “Heil Hitler” spray-painted in Hebrew at one of the sites.
During his investigation, the 12-year-old told police that he spray-painted the swastikas as a sign of protest against the discrimination directed against him by Israeli society since his aliyah seven years prior.
The boy then expressed regret over his actions, and said he had decided to reform.
The other two boys suspected of taking part in the vandalism claimed they did so out of boredom. The three boys will likely be released from custody and be put under house arrest for five days.
