3 killed in road accidents Friday
Two people dead, three seriously injured in accident near city of Taibeh in central Israel; motorcycle rider killed near Beit Shemesh after losing control of vehicle, hitting safety railing. Seven people killed in road accidents within 24 hours
Two people were killed and three were seriously injured Friday evening in a traffic accident on the road leading from the central city of Taibeh to the West Bank city of Tulkarem.
Two vehicles were involved in the accident, and one of them overturned. Magen David Adom crews dispatched to the area proclaimed two of the passengers dead and evacuated the injured to hospitals. The accident is believed to have been caused due to a wet road.
Also Friday, a motorcycle rider was killed on the road leading from Moshav Mata to the city of Beit Shemesh, near Jerusalem. Police believe that the man lost control of the vehicle and hit the safety railing on the side of the road.
The rider was evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, where he died of his wounds.
In a third accident, a woman was critically injured in the western Galilee. Six other people were also hurt, two of them sustaining moderate wounds and four sustaining light injuries. The woman was evacuated to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa via helicopter.
On Thursday, four people were killed in two fatal road accidents. Three American and German tourists were killed and two Israeli women were seriously injured in an accident between a private car and a truck on the road connecting between the southern cities of Beersheba and Arad.
Several hours later, a 70-year-old woman was killed in the northern city of Maalot after being hit by a garbage truck as she was crossing the road.
Since the beginning of 2007, 370 people have been killed in road accidents across Israel.
