'Barak has lost his killer instinct'

Labor Chairman Ehud Barak faces harsh criticism from his party, as they lose faith in his ability to win any future elections. 'It feels like we want him to be the prime minister more than he does," they say

Labor Chairman and Defense Minister Ehud Barak seems to be losing momentum in house, as many of his supporters have begun believing his leadership will not guaranty the party victory in the next general elections.

"Sometimes it feels like we want him to be the prime minister more than he does," a source in Labor told Ynet Saturday.

"It's almost like he has no fighting edge, like he lost his killer instinct… he has to wake up," added the source.

According to the source, Labor members feel that Barak's Defense Ministry duties have rendered him incapable of reaching any real political goals which may help solidify his public position as a leader.

Barak's announcement in Friday's Labor meeting, stating that he will not lead the party out of the government once the Winograd Commission, investigating the Second Lebanon War, published its final report, met with harsh criticism by his Labor fellows.

"He has to go back to acting as is he is up for reelection or he'll never be prime minister," said the source, adding "he already knows that as things stand now, he has no chance of winning an election. That's the only reason he's willing to stay in the government."
