Rockets land outside Sderot, south of Ashkelon and near Gaza security fence; Islamic Jihad claims responsibility for attacks

Six Qassams fired by Palestinians from northern Gaza on Tuesday landed in the western Negev, but caused no injuries or damage.

Islamic Jihad's armed wing, the al-Quds Brigades, claimed responsibility for the attacks.

A rocket fired in the early morning hours landed in an open field within the boundaries of the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.

Later, three Qassams landed in open fields just outside Sderot, while two more rockets landed south of Ashkelon and near the security fence separating Israel from the Strip.

On Monday two mortar shells and a rocket launched from Gaza landed in open fields in the western Negev region, causing no injuries or damage.

Last Sunday a Qassam landed near a police station in Sderot, but did not explode. The rocket caused slight damage to the outer wall of a nearby housing unit.
