Military Police notified Tabuani's family and opened an investigation into the incident.
Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin, head of the Intelligence Branch, appointed an officer with the rank of colonel to examine the circumstances surrounded in the training accident.
Tabuani was killed during a solo navigation training exercise which is a standard part of training courses for special forces units. The maneuver was conducted in Nahal Faran in the Negev desert.
A helicopter that was called to the area extracted Tabuani's corpse and brought it to the Soroka hospital in Beersheba.
